age assurance
A category of technical and operational mechanisms designed to verify or strongly infer the age of online users — most relevant for adult-content access control under the UK Online Safety Act 2023, France's ARCOM regime, Germany's JuSchG, and equivalent legislation. Distinct from §2257-style performer verification: age assurance covers the consumer-access side.
